“Meet Elin and Rhys”
Conwy Castle Audio Tour
Over the course of the last three days, we’ve been working hard recording the Conwy Castle Audio Tour.
Casting Leisa and Sion as Elin the Medieval Historian and Rhys the Hotelier (from nearby Bodysgallen Hall), the pair have taken the visitor on a tour of the castle pointing out the similarities between modern day Hotels to medieval castles.
The tour takes in the Kitchens, Great Hall, ‘posh and sparse’ apartments, storage and gardens, and how medieval guests expected similar home comforts that we expect today.
The tour is in two languages, Welsh and English, and each has been recorded to work with the Guide ID audio tour set up. A pod catcher is given to the visitor when they enter the site, and upon discovering a locator in the castle grounds, can listen to the initial content. This lasts approx 45 seconds, and if the visitor is keen to hear more, they can press button A. If they wish to hear a fun fact, they press button B. Both additional commentaries add more detail, but not enough to bore you.
The overall tour has 20 locations and these are scattered throughout the Castle grounds. If you managed to listen to all the content the tour would take around 75 minutes, but because of the options you can take at each location, and what you wish to hear, you could get a good introduction in about 30 minutes. The fun facts are just the type of stories that kids will love, and you can share later in the pub with friends…
The Conwy Castle Audio Tour is planned to go live in Autumn this year. I’ll keep you posted!
