CALEDONIAN PARK CLOCK TOWER


Situated just north of Kings Cross in London, Caledonian Park’s reputation has changed as often as its history.

The magnificent Victorian clocktower was the centrepiece of the new Metropolitan Cattle Market built in 1855. Sadly it’s the sole survivor. Once inside, we created a coherent visitor experience for the climb up the eight stages of the tower which explained the site, the clock mechanism and the outstanding views over London

Surrounding the tower, rugged visual interpretation included cast metal plaques inset into stone benches, and glorious new park gates created in powder coated cut steel. Each scene, linked to audio recordings told of the park’s unusual history from Tolpuddle March, to famous running track, from meat market to bric a brac stalls…
