Bunny Slope

76th International Film Festival Berlin

Working with Jason Edwards (Director) and Michael Wright (Writer).

‘The film Bunny Slope is an intense and dark psychological thriller, set in a remote out of season ski resort. It’s a taut, atmospheric journey full of twists, turns and surprises with a splattering of dark humour thrown in. Visually the film embraces the emptiness, the wide open mountain vistas, moody forests and the claustrophobic interiors’, so said Jason when I met with him to understand the brief.

Our project was to create a film poster to work with the Film Synopsis that could be used in the funding packs being distributed at the festival. Over a fortnight we worked up multiple ideas, several with actors and actresses in place, and all showing the intended locations.

We worked with the idea of a ‘Scandi-Noir’ crime series as a start point and expanded from there. The more successful and ultimately the concepts that were chosen kept the main characters as a mystery, adding more intrigue into the storyline, but including the shovel as the murder weapon. The bloodied tip of the shovel evoking the mountains in the Alps, and the stark whites and greys adding to the isolation.
